IPOB Declares September 14 as Holiday......

Pro-Biafra agitators, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have declared general strike across the South-east and South-South geo political zones and other areas where Biafrans resides on September 14 to mourn those killed in the struggle for the restoration of Biafra Independence since 2015. They stated that it would be a protest to register their anger regarding men and women killed at Afaraukwu in Umuahia during Operation Python Dance II on September 14, last year, as well as those killed in Ngwa, Aba, Igweocha (Portharcourt) and buried in unmarked mass graves as a result of the military invasion of Biafraland by the Nigerian Army. https://guardian.ng/news/ipob-declares-general-strike-on-september-14-over-biafra/

Militants Kidnap Corp Member

Public outrage has trailed the kidnap of one Akpanabia Kelvin Udoworen, a youth corps member currently serving in Birnin Kebbi, capital of kebbi State in his village in Akwa Ibom state. Udoworen, son of the President of Esop Ikpaisong Afaha (EIA), a prominent socio-cultural organization in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was taken hostage by suspected kidnappers in his country home, Nto Okon Usung Itike, at the weekend, Vanguard gathered. Family sources said the victim after completing his mandatory orientation exercise decided to visit his parents and the bandits reportedly swooped on him as soon as he arrived his village. “He arrived on Friday and the following day, Saturday, the hoodlums got wind of his arrival and stormed the compound at Nto Okon Usung Itike, to whisk him away after brandishing AK-47 rifles and machetes”, a family source who would not want his name in print said. Man Serving Life Sentence Begins Masters Degree Programme.........

The 39-year-old man and father of four, who is serving a life jail term, matriculated on Monday during the seventh matriculation ceremony of the institution held at the Awka Prisons. Speaking with Southern City News at the matriculation arena, Onwuzulike said he believed that one day, his education and knowledge would be of help to him. He said he had earlier obtained a first degree and post-graduate diploma from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, respectively, before his ordeal. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Maihajja, made the disclosure while receiving a new batch of 166 returnees who arrived in Lagos on Thursday night. Maihajja, represented by the South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Alhaji Yakubu Suleiman, said the Nigerians were assisted back by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). According to him, the returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 10.50 p.m. on Thursday night aboard a Libyan airline with registration number 5A-DMG. “Af

NO Extension to Voters Registration Deadline.......

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the Aug. 17 deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will not be extended. The commission said the exercise would resume after the 2019 General Elections scheduled from Feb. 26 and March 2. Mr Mohorret Bigun, Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Gombe told newsmen on Wednesday that the exercise would henceforth include weekends and public holidays to allow for more people to register beginning from Aug.1. He said INEC was not planning to extend the exercise beyond Aug. 17 as being anticipated in some quarters. “ There will be no extension of ongoing registration beyond the Aug. 17 deadline. Those who are anticipating extension should go and register. “From Aug. 1, we are going to operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Sunday.
