NO MORE SAFETY
The situation in our country Nigeria has come to the extent that no one knows about their security, no one is sure about their day neither their night. when i was in secondary school, i was told that one of the fundamental rights of man is '' freedom of movement''. But this freedom has been restricted indirectly by recent happenings without the Government working out the differences.
This is a short story narrated by Miss Margret Owanse, a resident in Bayelsa on her encounter with some members of the Islamic group.
On March 2, 2018 at about 2pm, my parents and I were on our way to Greater Evangelism World Crusade State HQ at Opolo Yenagoa on a Ministry assignment. When they drove into Opolo road it was totally blocked, Muslims were praying with an overflow to the main road. They horned severally hoping they could pass through, all to no avail so they waited patiently for 15mins. After the prayers, instead of making way for cars to pass, these Muslims attacked my mum's car, hitting the car and beat her up seriously. Can you imagine they beat up my mum, a 56 years old woman, even broke her spectacles in the process. We thank God she is safe and sound. Sometimes, I wondered if it is now lawful for people to block a major road?. I wonder whether we are still safe in our own dear Bayelsa State?.
Few weeks ago, it was the same Muslims that attacked our farm in the village destroying our crops worth Millions of naira,Yet nobody is saying anything about it. Now, it's the story of I and my parent, luckily she survived and no much injuries substained. Who knows who's turn it will be tomorrow?.
This is a wake up call for all Bayelsans to be at alert. It will be advisable for all states to be watchful and respect their dignity at all times. It is high time men confidently move freely without fear of another religion or tribe. it is now obvious that this is a Religious battle?
