A United Nations expert, Ikponwosa Ero reveals human rights abuses against people living with albinism.In her first report, which was released a week ago to the human rights council of the UN, she says people with albinism body are usually hacked off with machetes, for witchcraft rituals and there are cases where their graves have been desecrated.

The reasons for the killings and discrimination is because, it is believed that certain body parts of albinistic people can transmit magical powers.

Such superstition is present especially in some parts of Africa, where it has been promulgated and exploited by witch doctors and others who use such body parts as ingredients in rituals, concoctions and potions with the claim that their magic will bring prosperity to the user.

This type of inhumane treatment and human right abuse should be avoided at all cost. it is madness and barbaric to chop of the body of another fellow for our own selfish interest. the rights of everybody must be protected without indifference.
